Oktoberfest, the biggest and most beautiful folk festival in the world, is a genuine celebration of the senses. This cultural spectacle honors the Bavarian way of life and is held yearly in Munich, the state capital of Bavaria. Have you ever thought the spelling of the festival was peculiar? 'October' is spelled with a 'K' in German. As a result, the festival's original spelling, "Oktoberfest," is maintained out of respect for its history.

The 188th Oktoberfest will be held at Munich's Theresienwiese from September 16 to October 3, 2023.

Don't you want to be one of the six to seven million people who discover this for themselves every year? They devour half a million half chickens and drink 7 million liters of beer daily. They dance and party hard. The greatest experience you must have is Oktoberfest 2023!

History of Oktoberfest

This German celebration has historical roots that date back to the 1800s. On October 12, 1818, King Ludwig I and Crown Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen were wed in a formal ceremony. The royal festivities, which featured horse racing, libations, and dancing, were open to Munich's residents. The happy celebrations aroused such enthusiasm that it eventually developed into an annual ritual for the locals and was known as Oktoberfest. Theresienwiese, the site of the festival still today, served as the location for the wedding.

Are you creating a list for Oktoberfest 2023? Include unique activities like the Costume and Hunters' parade, renowned Bavarian concerts, seeing the proprietors of the beer tents arrive in horse-drawn carriages, and the customary cannon salute that signals the end of the festival for the year. Additionally, we encourage you to go to the free Wiesn Landlords music by the Lady Bavaria statue. Get on one of the many carnival rides, such as the Ferris wheel, toboggan, Hau den Lukas, or Teufelsrad (Devil's Wheel), to amp up the enjoyment. A sight to behold is the unofficial closing celebration held in the Hacker Pschorr tent.

Wait a minute... Hold on!
